20 Kms from Alibaug on the Alibaug - Roha route near Salav village is the beautiful Birla Mandir. Built atop a hillock Birla mandir has Ganesha as the main diety. The idol of Ganesha is placed on a marble nave which is intricately carved. The idols of Riddhi and Siddhi are placed on either sides of the Ganesha idol. There are small temples of Radha-Krishna Shiv-Parvati and Suryadeva also in the Birla mandir. Every evening, after the sun sets, lights are turned on, and the aarti is performed. As it gets dark, the sight of the translucent marble reflecting the light is a wonderful sight
Aarti at the Birla mandir is performed at at 9.00 am and 7.00 pm.
Birla mandir or the Vikram Vinayak Temple has marble floors and the hall of the temple is open from all sides. The ceiling of the temple is transparent which allows ample light to come in. On entering the temple there is a square nave. At Birla mandir there are small temples of Radha-Krishna, Shiv-Parvati, Bhavanidevi and Suryadeva. In the garden next to the Birla temple there is a statue of late Aditya Birla.
Birla mandir is open for the public from 6.00 a. m. to 11.30 a.m and 4.30 p.m to 9.00 p.m.
